Resealing

Sealant is the part of a motorhome nobody looks at until there's a stain on the ceiling. Every exterior joint, window frame, locker surround, roof fitting and light housing relies on a bead of flexible sealant to keep water out while the body flexes on the road. That sealant has a finite life — UV hardens it, temperature swings and constant movement work it loose, and eventually it shrinks, cracks and pulls away from one side of the joint. From the outside the gap can be almost invisible; on the inside it shows up as damp trim, a musty smell, or soft, swollen panel edges.

Our Resealing service removes the failed material rather than smearing new sealant over the top of it, which is the single most common reason a reseal doesn't last. Old sealant is cut and stripped out of the joint, the surfaces on both sides are cleaned back and prepared, and a new high-quality flexible sealant is applied to restore a continuous, watertight seal that can move with the vehicle instead of tearing away from it.

Every reseal is assessed in person at our Mount Wellington workshop in Auckland, because the scope varies enormously — sometimes it's a handful of specific joints, sometimes it's the full perimeter of the vehicle, and sometimes what looks like a sealant issue is water tracking in from somewhere else entirely. We'll show you what we find, explain what's involved and quote before any work begins. Resealing also pairs naturally with our roof waterproofing treatment when the roof itself is past sealing alone.
