Decal Removal & Replacement

Vinyl graphics are the first thing on a motorhome to show its age. Constant UV exposure makes the film brittle, so it cracks, crazes and starts lifting at the edges — usually along the top of a panel or around door frames where water can creep underneath. Once that happens the decal can't be saved, and every wash lifts a little more of it. Meanwhile the paint or gelcoat behind it has been shielded from the sun, so as soon as the vinyl comes off the difference in colour is obvious.

Our Decal Removal & Replacement service deals with all of that in one job. Old vinyl is heat-softened and lifted without gouging the surface beneath, adhesive residue is dissolved and cleaned off completely, and the exposed area is machine polished so it blends with the surrounding panel instead of leaving a ghost outline. From there you can leave the body clean and plain, or we can trim and fit new decals — a replacement of the originals, or a fresh design if you're rebranding a rental or business vehicle.

Every job is assessed in person at our Mount Wellington workshop in Auckland, because the work involved depends entirely on the age of the vinyl, how much of it there is, and how well the surface underneath has held up. We'll show you what we find, tell you honestly what the surface will look like afterwards, and quote before any work starts. Decal work pairs naturally with an exterior polish, since a full-body polish is what makes the newly exposed areas match the rest of the vehicle.
